Khối 8406 - Việt Nam, ngày 18-04-2008 Kính gửi: Dân biểu Loretta Sanchez, Kính thưa Bà, Chúng tôi rất hân hoan và biết ơn Bà khi thấy Bà luôn nhiệt thành tranh đấu cho nhân quyền của người dân Việt Nam chúng tôi từ nhiều năm nay. Rõ ràng là trong những năm qua, nhà cầm quyền CSVN đã phải lùi bước về mức độ độc tài và phải chùn tay trong việc đàn áp người dân và các nhà đấu tranh dân chủ. Đó là thành quả tốt đẹp của những nỗ lực đấu tranh của rất nhiều người, trong đó có phần rất lớn của Bà. Cụ thể và gần đây nhất, Bà đã tặng Khối 8406 một món quà đầy ý nghĩa dịp kỷ niệm 2 năm thành lập. Món quà đó là: – Bà đã đưa một dự thảo nghị quyết ra trước Quốc hội kêu gọi nhà nước Việt Nam trả tự do, chấm dứt việc giam giữ không xét xử, và ngưng ngay việc sách nhiễu và quản chế những thành viên Khối 8406 đã ký tên vào bản Tuyên ngôn Tự do Dân chủ cho Việt Nam – Bà đã kêu gọi Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Hoa Kỳ thiết lập danh sách Các Quốc gia Cần Quan tâm Ðặc biệt (CPC) trong đó có Việt Nam vì nước này đang vi phạm nhân quyền trầm trọng. – Bà đã yêu cầu Quốc hội Hoa Kỳ bắt nhà nước Việt Nam phải chịu trách nhiệm về các vụ bắt bớ và sách nhiễu phi pháp một số công dân Hoa Kỳ gốc Việt về thăm Việt Nam và các nhà đấu tranh dân chủ trong nước. Chúng tôi, những thành viên của Khối 8406, rất mừng khi nhận được món quà rất ích lợi ấy và xin chân thành cám ơn Bà. Rất mong Bà vẫn tiếp tục ủng hộ chúng tôi và cùng sát cánh với chúng tôi trong cuộc tranh đấu đầy chính nghĩa này. Kính chúc Bà luôn hạnh phúc và thành công trong mọi công việc. It is evident that the Communist Government of Vietnam has made certain concessions in its authoritarian practice and has lessened the intensity of its oppressions of its people as well as on the voices of dissent in Vietnam today. These are the results of diligent advocacy efforts by a great number of selfless individuals, who believe in the ideal of freedom-for-all, among whom you are a very significant constituent. Concretely and recently, on the 2nd anniversary of Bloc 8406, you have given us a most meaningful birthday gift. This gift included the following: A resolution, sponsored by you and presented to the US Congress, calling on the Vietnamese government to free members of and to stop its systematic policy of harassing the founding and associated members of Bloc 8406 who have signed in the Manifesto on Freedom and Democracy for Vietnam. A call to the US Secretary of State to include Vietnam within the list of Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) to the United States, due to Vietnam's human rights records. A rally to your congressional colleagues to hold the Government of Vietnam accountable for its unacceptable behavior such as the arrests and harassment of U.S. citizens, to visit the country for humanitarian purposes, and for the citizens who struggle to voice their concerns regarding the democratization process in Vietnam. We, members of Bloc 8406, are very grateful for your genuine gift and would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude.
